Waalwege (Walkways) from the Hotel
A level higher than the promenades, you'll find the ever-popular Waalwege (walkways) – a peculiarity of South Tyrolean agriculture. They were originally established as irrigation channels, but today, they serve as easy walkways with magnificent look-out points affording a splendid view of the Etsch/Adige Valley. They pass right through fruit orchards, vineyards, forests, and meadows.
In Meran's valley basin, e.g.: Maiser Waalweg, Algunder Waalweg, Marlinger Waalweg.
